Who am I?

The philosophical part of this question is rather difficult to answer. That’s why I’ll stick to the simple answer. My name is Jakob Volgger. My roots lie in South Tyrol (Italy), but since I lived in Scotland for a year, I love living in other countries as well.

My professional background is very colourful. A big dream came true when I got the opportunity to do an internship in the European Parliament. My volunteer work in a South Tyrolean refugee house was also very inspiring and influential for me. You can find further information about my professional career on LinkedIn.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Social Work, Social Policy and Management. My hobbies: playing the trumpet, cross-country skiing, cooking and reading my favourite daily newspaper while sipping an Earl Grey tea. (Does that sound like an old man?)

My Strenghts?

Digital

I have a thorough command of the Microsoft Office programs. I am familiar with the programs Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Indesign. Furthermore, I have a basic understanding of web design. I quickly get to grips with new software.

Communication

I have experience in writing texts and I also feel comfortable when I have to speak in front of others. I have a good understanding of traditional and modern communication channels.

Building Bridges

I find it easy to connect with other people. Building social bridges to all members of society — regardless of a person’s social status — is very important to me.

Teamwork

I have already worked in various teams and have always managed to find my role in order to contribute to the team’s success. Teamwork for me means that everyone can contribute with his or her strengths. At the same time, working with other people gives me the opportunity to learn from them.

Curiosity

Curiosity drives me. I constantly want to learn new things and develop myself. My latest lockdown skills: In 2020, I taught myself how to play the harmonica and perfected my homemade pizza.
